Need Guidance for College Applications: What Kind of Accomplishments are Admissions Looking For?

I'm working on my college applications and wondering what sort of accomplishments most people highlight on theirs. Can anyone share what achievement they're most proud of and included in their college applications?

Admissions officers are keen on seeing not just the quantity, but more importantly the quality and substance of the activities and achievements you've had throughout high school. Rather than listing down every single activity you've participated in, it's highly encouraged to focus on the ones you've been deeply involved with or sparked significant growth and development in you.

For example, if you've held a leadership role in a club or organization. This could be being a student body president, a head of a department in your school paper, or even a captain on a sports team. These roles showcase your leadership, initiative, and interpersonal skills.

Achievements that involve dedication, persistence, and significant effort over a considerable period will usually impress admissions officers. For instance, if you have started a significant long-term service project, developed your app or website, or initiated a petition that led to a change in your local community, these are all valuable and notable experiences.

If you've done well in academic competitions, whether locally, nationally, or internationally, this can also be a substantial accomplishment. Consider achievements like placing in a state-level Science Olympiad, winning a national debate championship, or qualifying for an international math contest.

Lastly, remember that every accomplishment counts, even if it seems minor to you. Did you improve the time efficiency of a process at your part-time job?
