When do most college students take the MCAT?

Hey everyone, I'm planning ahead a bit and I know that as a pre-med student, I'll have to take the MCAT. Just wondering when that is typically taken during undergrad. Is it during junior or senior year or does it vary? Any help would be great!

Most pre-med students typically take the MCAT in their junior year of college after they've completed the necessary coursework. This usually includes classes in biology, general and organic chemistry, and physics. Additionally, introductory psychology and sociology classes would also be beneficial as the MCAT includes sections on Behavioral Sciences.

It's also useful to take the test at this time so you get the results back before you begin applying to medical schools in the summer after your junior year. Preparedness is key though, so if you don't feel ready, you might want to postpone until senior year or even consider taking a gap year.

However, it really does vary from one student to another. Some opt to take it earlier if they feel prepared, while others may postpone it if they need additional time to study or to finish necessary coursework. At the end of the day, you should take the test only when you feel prepared and comfortable.
