Looking for colleges with large Native American student bodies

Hi everyone, I’m part Native American and I’ve been thinking it might be cool to be in a school with a large community of Native American students. Do any of y'all know which college has the most Native American students?

Sure! While proportionally the Native American student population is generally not large in any one school, there are a few institutions where these students make up a higher percentage of the student body. One of the schools with the most Native American students is Dartmouth College, which has a long-standing commitment to diversity and has a dedicated Indigenous Peer Mentor Program.

Other institutions to consider for their higher proportions of Native American students are the University of Oklahoma (with a dedicated Native Nations page designed to aid Native American students navigate the college admissions process), Northeastern State University in Oklahoma (Native American support center), and Arizona State University (American Indian Student Support Services).

Furthermore, there are also several Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) across the nation that were established primarily to serve the higher education needs of American Indians, and most TCUs are located on or near reservations. These include schools like Navajo Technical University in New Mexico and Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas.

Remember, it's not just about the numbers. Do some research on the schools' programs and resources for Native American students as well. For example, some schools have Native Studies programs, dedicated housing, or cultural centers. Higher numbers might mean a larger community, but it's the support and resources provided by the school that will help that community thrive.
