States and College Graduates: Any Correlation?

Purely out of curiosity, are there stats out there that show which U.S. state has the highest number of college graduates?

Yes, there are statistics available showing the percentage of the population, by state, that has a bachelor's degree or higher. These kinds of data are often collected through comprehensive survey methods like the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS).

In recent years, the District of Columbia, what many might consider technically as not a state but it's often ranked amongst them, consistently tops the charts with over 50% of its population holding a bachelor's degree or higher. When it comes to the 50 states, Massachusetts comes out on top, with a significant portion of its population also having a bachelor's degree or higher.

On the lower end, states like West Virginia and Mississippi historically have the smallest percentages of residents with a bachelor's degree or higher. It's important to note that many factors can contribute to this, such as the prevalence of trade jobs and the availability of higher education opportunities within the state amongst others.

Do keep in mind these figures are subjected to fluctuation as student enrollment and graduation rates change over the years, but as per recent data available, the general trend seems to stay the same. I would encourage you to check the ACS or other reputable data resources for the most current stats if you're interested!
