What's the most useless class you've taken in high school?

I've been thinking about my class schedule and I'm curious, in your experience, which class do you consider the most useless in high school, and why? Just trying to get some perspective for future class choices.

Well, the concept of a 'useless' class strongly depends on individual perspectives and the personal career/academic paths one might be aiming for. What seems useless to one person may turn out to be vital for another, depending on their interests and goals.

For instance, a student with a strong inclination towards STEM subjects might regard a class in Art History as 'useless' because it doesn't directly contribute to their skillset or their intended college major or career. However, for another student interested in Fine Arts or History, the same class could provide a significant foundation.

One of the primary goals of high school is exploration and getting exposure to a wide assortment of subjects and disciplines. Certain classes, although they might not contribute to the specific skill set of a student's intended career path, could still provide valuable lessons in critical thinking, creativity, and broaden their understanding of global contexts. For example, a Literature class, while not directly practical, encourages analytical thinking, exposes students to various perspectives, and enhances writing skills - all of which are transferable skills that can be used in many walks of life.

However, if you really want to optimize your schedule for classes that seem directly applicable to your intended path, start by identifying what that path is. If you have a handle on which career area or college major you're interested in, research which high school classes would best prepare you for that. No class is inherently useless; the context and the student's interests and goals are what determine its usefulness.

Remember, this is just a general perspective and the real value of a class can only be evaluated individually! It's always recommended to have a well-rounded curriculum to ensure a holistic education while also including subjects that align with your specific interests and aspirations.
