Schools with ED2 Options

Hey everyone, I'm a high school junior who's been looking into the Early Decision (ED) process and I found out about ED2. Do any of you know what schools offer this option, and how it differs from regular ED? Any additional info, such as deadlines and acceptance rates, would be super helpful!

Sure thing! ED2, or Early Decision II, is an application process that allows students to apply to a school bindingly, just like in the traditional Early Decision (ED), but at a slightly later date. It's a great option for students who either missed the early decision deadline or got rejected/deferred from their early decision or early action school.

There are quite a few institutions that offer this option. Some of these include the University of Chicago, Tufts University, Vanderbilt University, and Emory University among others.

Now, deadlines for ED2 usually fall around January 1st or a bit later, while traditional ED deadlines are typically in October or November of the senior year.

As for acceptance rates, they can vary by school and the specifics can be hard to find, but in general, ED2 acceptance rates are typically higher than Regular Decision rates, but lower than ED1 rates. This is likely because the pool of applicants is often more self-selective in both early decision rounds.

Remember, since early decision - whether ED1 or ED2 - is binding, it's important that you're 100% sure about your school choice before applying. It's also crucial to review the financial implications, as you're committing to attending if accepted regardless of the financial aid package you're offered (though you can usually back out for significant financial hardship).

Best of luck with your application process! Make sure to check directly with your specific schools of interest for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
