Can anyone share experiences with Alabama HBCU schools?

I'm a junior from the West Coast and really interested in exploring schools outside of my comfort zone, especially HBCUs in the South. Has anyone here gone to an Alabama HBCU and what's the vibe like? Any thoughts on academics or social life?

Hey there! My son is in his sophomore year at an HBCU in Alabama, and he's been having a great experience so far. He's from the Pacific Northwest, so there was definitely some cultural adjusting, but he's found it to be a very welcoming community. Academically, he's been challenged and supported, particularly in his Business Administration program. The professors have been accessible, and there's a strong sense of pride in the educational standards at his school.

Socially, the campus is alive with activities and organizations that celebrate Black culture and history, which is something he wanted to experience. Greek life is big, and step shows are popular events that bring a lot of energy to campus.

Attending an HBCU in the South, you're surrounded by an incredible sense of history and legacy which is very empowering. If you're looking to step out of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in a rich cultural setting, an Alabama HBCU could be a great fit for you. Just research each school's offerings in your field of interest and don't be afraid to reach out to admissions or current students to get a feel for the campus life. Good luck!
