What's the Experience Like in Pepperdine University's Dorms?

Hi there! I'm looking into applying to Pepperdine University, and I'm particularly interested in the dorm life on campus. What types of dorms does Pepperdine offer, and are there any that you recommend? How's the social scene among students living on campus? Also, are there any unique features about the dorms that make them stand out? I'd love to hear from current or former students about their experience!

First off, congratulations on considering Pepperdine University! As a residential campus, Pepperdine requires all freshmen and sophomores to live on campus, and the university provides several housing options for students.

There are seven residence halls specially designed for first-year students, namely: DeBell, Fleming, Hayes, Krown Alpha, Page, Peppers, and White. Each hall has its own unique charm and community, and your choice might depend on factors such as proximity to certain facilities, size of the hall, or the presence of certain amenities. The dorms are suite-style, with mostly doubles and some triples, and they tend to be very clean and well-maintained.

As for the social scene, community is a big emphasis at Pepperdine. Each dorm has a resident advisor who strives to ensure a positive, inclusive environment, often through organizing social events and dorm activities. This genuinely fosters a sense of camaraderie and close-knit community among residents.

One particular unique feature about living on campus is the stunning view. The university is located in Malibu, and many of the dorms have breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean which is quite a unique experience!

It's also worth noting that Meal plans are mandatory for students living on campus, and the meal options are quite varied, with the dining hall offering a rotating menu of foods that cater to various dietary restrictions. Plus, Malibu has a lot of great restaurants, if you ever feel the urge to eat off campus.

Finally, remember to participate in as many on-campus events as possible to maximize your dorm experience. Many students say these events were key in making new friends and feeling at home at Pepperdine. Volunteering for dorm leadership opportunities can also enrich your experience by giving you a chance to shape your community.

Good luck with your application process!
