How do I overcome a low SAT/ACT score when applying to colleges?

Not gonna lie, I'm a bit stressed here. My SAT/ACT scores aren’t the best, and I’m worried about my chances of getting into a decent college. What can I do to improve my application in other areas to balance this out?

I understand that a lower SAT/ACT score can feel disheartening, but remember that it's just one part of your application. Colleges often look for students who can contribute in various ways. Focus on your strengths. If you excel in particular subjects, be sure to highlight strong grades and challenging courses.

You can also enhance your application by getting involved in extracurricular activities and taking on leadership roles. If you're passionate about something, show how you've pursued that interest. This might be through starting a club, volunteering, or working a part-time job.

Additionally, if you've overcome any personal challenges or have unique life experiences, reflecting those in your essays can add depth to your application and help you stand out. Lastly, consider asking for recommendation letters from teachers or mentors who can vouch for your abilities and character. Make sure to give them enough time to write a thoughtful letter.

While SAT/ACT scores are a factor, they are not the sole determinant of your college journey. Take a holistic approach to your application, and showcase the full picture of who you are.
