Does Baruch College offer dorms or housing options?

I'm looking into applying to Baruch College, but I'm not sure what the on-campus living situation is like. Do they have dormitories, or are they mostly students living off-campus? If they do have dorms, how are they? Any insights on the quality of life for Baruch students who live on campus versus commuting?

I know it's in the city, so I'm guessing the housing situation might be a bit different compared to other colleges. Would love to hear from anyone who knows more about what to expect if I decide to live near campus!

Baruch College, which is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, does not have its traditional on-campus dormitories. This is somewhat common for urban, commuter schools, and in highly populous cities like NYC.

However, don't worry! Baruch students are eligible to apply for housing in the CUNY system’s residence hall, known as "The Summit", located in Queens. Though it's not "on campus", it is a dwelling community for CUNY students and provides the kind of shared living experience you might imagine when you think of college dormitories.

Regarding off-campus living, a significant portion of Baruch students are indeed commuters or live off-campus. Living in New York City can be an adventure itself, offering endless options in terms of neighborhoods and transportation systems, though it tends to be pricier than the average college town.

Students' satisfaction with their housing, commuting, and overall college experience can greatly vary based on their personal preferences, needs, and expectations. Living off-campus and commuting can offer more independence and immersion in city life. On the other hand, living in a dorm can offer more of a traditional college community feel. It depends on what kind of college experience you're looking for.

It's always a good idea to reach out to Baruch's Office of Residential Life or current students if possible, for a more detailed and personalized understanding of the housing situation. In the end, the choice is yours!
