What's the deal with housing at Kent State?

I'm starting to look into Kent State as one of my potential college choices and I want to understand what the housing situation is like there. Are there enough dorms for everyone, or is it super competitive to get a spot? Also, how are the dorms in terms of amenities and comfort? Any insights from current students or anyone who's visited the campus would be really appreciated. I'm just trying to get a sense of what living on campus might be like!

Kent State University ensures on-campus housing for all first-year students, as they are required to live on campus. The demand for on-campus housing for upperclassmen might be higher than what can be accommodated, but many students opt to live off-campus after their first year.

As for the dorms themselves, they vary considerably in terms of amenities and comfort. For instance, the Centennial Courts, Eastway Center, and Tri-Towers are popular choices and offer standard amenities like laundry services, study lounges, dining facilities, and Wi-Fi. Twin Towers and Prentice Hall also have their charm with a tighter community feel.

One thing to note is that no residence hall at Kent State promises luxury. They are all fundamentally functional in providing students with their basic living needs. That said, most students seem to find the dorms comfortable enough for their college lives, and there's the added benefit of being close to classes and university resources.

Pro tip: If you have a preferred dorm, I would recommend applying as early as possible after you're admitted since dorm assignments are typically made on a first-come, first-serve basis!

Keep in mind that college dorms are also about the experience they offer - living with peers, forming new relationships, and learning to co-exist. It can be quite an enriching experience!
