Are the College Board surveys actually useful?

I keep getting emails to fill out College Board surveys with the promise that they'll help with college stuff. Have any of you filled these out, and do they actually offer any value in the admissions process?

College Board surveys certainly have their place within the broader ecosystem of college admissions resources. While the surveys themselves aren't directly used in admissions decisions, they can indirectly benefit you. By filling them out, you're providing the College Board with information that can aid them in improving test taking experiences and college preparation resources. Moreover, these surveys may also impact how colleges use the SAT in their admissions process, as feedback prompts both the College Board and colleges to adjust over time.

On a personal level, the College Board uses your responses to tailor the information and opportunities they send your way, which could include scholarship information or invitation to specific college-recruitment events. It's a small way to engage, and while it's by no means game-changing for admission to a particular college, it can contribute to the landscape of resources and information available to you. Just be mindful as you decide how much personal information you're comfortable sharing with organizations like the College Board.
