Does NYU conduct interviews for prospective students?

Hi all, I'm in the process of applying to NYU and I was curious if they offer interviews as part of the admissions process. If they do, is the interview required or optional, and what's the general format/structure? Thanks!

Hey there! NYU does not typically offer interviews for prospective undergraduate applicants as part of the admissions process. This means you don't have to worry about preparing for an interview with NYU admissions representatives. Instead, you should focus on making sure your application, including your essays and extracurriculars, is as strong as it can be.

That being said, some particular programs within NYU, such as the Accelerated 7-year BA/DDS Program, may require an interview on a case-by-case basis. In those instances, you'll be contacted by the specific program if you're selected for an interview.

Although there might not be formal interviews, you can still show your interest by attending NYU virtual information sessions or campus visits, if possible. These opportunities allow you to get a better sense of the school, ask questions, and connect with current students or faculty in an informal setting. Demonstrating your interest and taking the time to learn more about NYU can help strengthen your overall application.

So, in summary, most undergraduate applicants don't have to worry about an interview with NYU. Instead, focus on polishing your application materials and make an effort to learn as much as possible about the school. Best of luck with your application!
