What percentage of military jobs are non-combat?

I'm exploring the idea of joining the military after high school but not sure if I want to be in a combat role. Does anyone know what percentage of military jobs are non-combat? Any roles you recommend?

According to the Department of Defense, approximately 80% of military jobs are non-combat. These roles are quite diverse and cover a range of specialties, including medical services, supply and logistics, administration, public affairs, and intelligence, among others.

If you're interested in a particular field, my recommendation would be to start from there and explore jobs in the military that align with that interest. For instance, if you're interested in health care, you might want to consider roles as a medic or healthcare specialist. If you have a knack for technology, the military offers roles related to information technology, communications, and cyber warfare.

The military also offers opportunities for on-the-job training and education, which can be beneficial in developing new skill sets. It's worth talking with a recruiter or doing some research online to find out which branch of the military and which jobs might suit your interests and career goals. Always remember that regardless of the role, military service is about more than just the job—it's a commitment to serve your country.
