What does the Naval Academy pilot program entail?

The Naval Academy Pilot Program is designed to provide students with an immersive and robust experience preparing them for a career in naval aviation. In terms of training, the program emphasizes both classroom learning and practical experience.

During your time at the Naval Academy, you'll be exposed to a multifaceted curriculum covering aeronautical engineering, flight principles, navigation, and even meteorology. Hands-on flight training will also be a significant part of your education. You'll start by learning on basic trainer aircraft and simulators before gradually moving on to more complex aircraft.

After graduation from the Naval Academy, you will likely be commissioned as a Naval Officer and then proceed to Pensacola, Florida, for Aviation Preflight Indoctrination (API). This 6-week course covers aerodynamics, aviation physiology and water survival, and provides the groundwork for your subsequent specialized flight training.
