How does the Naval Academy handle test requirements?

I'm trying to figure out all the application steps for the Naval Academy. Does anyone know what the current test requirements are? I'm especially interested in whether they still require the SAT or ACT.

The U.S. Naval Academy, similar to many other service academies, has an application process that requires more elements than a traditional college application process. As for the standardized testing requirements, yes, the United States Naval Academy still requires either the SAT or ACT as a part of the application.

However, it is important to keep in mind that the academy does not have a minimum score requirement for either the SAT or ACT. Instead, they use a 'Whole Person Multiple' scoring method, which encompasses areas like academic performance, leadership potential, physical aptitude, and medical standards, alongside standardized test scores. That means while your score on the SAT or ACT is undeniably important, so are the many other aspects of your application.

As a pro tip, aim to achieve a competitive score compared to successful candidates. Historically, most successful candidates have scored above 600 in each section of the SAT or above 26 on the ACT.

Also remember that you need to pursue a nomination, usually from a Member of Congress, as part of your application to the Naval Academy.
