As an individual with extensive knowledge about college programs and alternative paths after high school, I can give you a general idea about summer training at the United States Naval Academy.

All midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy undergo mandatory training each summer. This helps them to build leadership skills, understand different career paths in the Navy and Marine Corps, and gain real-world military experience.

For Plebes (freshmen), the summer begins with Plebe Summer, which is a rigorous 7-week basic training program. The activities involved include physical training, sailing, moral and ethical development, professional training, and character development.

For Youngsters (sophomores), summer training often includes PROTRAMID, or Professional Training of Midshipmen, which is a four-week program where midshipmen are exposed to the four primary warfare communities of the Navy: Surface, Submarine, Aviation, and Marine Corps.

Juniors, termed Second Class Midshipmen, attend Naval Science Institute or "NSI" for a 1 week training period of intensive professional and academic seminars. They also go on summer cruises, typically aboard operational Navy ships, to gain sea-going exposure.

First Class Midshipmen (seniors) often choose their summer training based on their service selection. They may participate in specialty cruises, such as aviation cruises, submarines, EOD cruises, or Marine Ops.

Each summer, midshipmen also have a period of roughly three weeks for vacation.

The training is physically and mentally demanding, often starting early in the morning and ending late in the evening. It's designed to challenge you in every domain and prepare you for naval service, so be ready for anything! Remember, the goal here is to build character, leadership, and a deep sense of military professionalism that are essential for the Navy and Marine Corps. I hope that gives you a solid overview of what you can expect. Get ready for an intense, challenging, and ultimately remarkably rewarding experience!
