AP Gov vs APUSH: Which one is more difficult?

I'm trying to figure out which history course to take next year - AP Government or AP US History (APUSH). Can anyone share their thoughts on which class they found to be more challenging? Thanks for the help!

Hi there! Both AP Government and AP US History are interesting courses, but the difficulty level depends on your personal interests and strengths. Here's a general comparison between the two classes:

AP Government focuses on the structure, functions, and the political process of the US political system. The content is typically more conceptual, and you'll study things like the Constitution, branches of government, and landmark Supreme Court cases. If you enjoy politics and legal matters, this might be the more appealing option.

AP US History, on the other hand, covers American history from the pre-Columbian era to the present day. The curriculum is more content-heavy, as there are a lot of facts, dates, and events to memorize. If you're more interested in the narrative of American history and events that have shaped the nation, APUSH might be your choice.

Ultimately, the decision comes down to your preferences and learning style. Talk to students who have taken both courses at your school to get a more detailed understanding, since course rigor can vary based on the teacher and school. Good luck!
