SL Economics: any advice?

Looking at my options for IB classes, and I came across SL Economics. How does it differ from HL Economics? Is it a manageable class from your experience? Let me know what you think, and any tips would be great!

Hey there! SL Economics is considered the 'standard level' course, and it has a slightly lighter workload compared to HL Economics, which is the 'higher level' course and goes into more depth on the topics.

SL Economics covers microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international and development economics. HL Economics, on the other hand, takes everything SL covers and includes additional topics such as theories of the firm and market structures. Additionally, HL students usually have to complete more assessments and assignments.

As for whether it's manageable or not, that depends on your interest and abilities in the subject. If you have a strong background in economics or related subjects, you should be able to handle either course, whereas if you're not that familiar with economic concepts, SL may be a better choice for you. Talking to the teacher of each course could be a good idea, as they'll be able to give you the most personalized guidance on how well your skillset aligns with the material.

Whichever course you end up enrolling in, a general tip for success is to stay on top of the required readings, discussions, and assignments, and don't be afraid to ask for help when needed. Good luck with your decision!
