Caltech vs. MIT

I'm lucky enough to be considering both Caltech and MIT for college, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the two. Can anyone who's familiar with both schools weigh in on which might be the better pick? I'm into STEM subjects but haven't decided on a major yet.

Congratulations on being in a position to consider into both Caltech and MIT! That's quite an accomplishment. As both schools are renowned for their STEM programs, you really can't go wrong with either choice.

However, there are differences that could influence your decision. Caltech has a smaller student body, offering a more close-knit campus community. The class sizes tend to be smaller too, which can be helpful when you're seeking personalized attention from professors. Caltech’s Honor Code promotes collaboration among students, and its location in Pasadena means you'll have beautiful Southern California weather.

On the other hand, MIT is located in the bustling city of Cambridge, which is right next to Boston. This location gives you access to a vibrant urban environment with many prestigious universities nearby. MIT has a larger student body and offers a broader range of majors, so you'll have more options to choose from as you decide on a major.

Ultimately, your decision should be based on your preference for campus atmosphere, location, and available resources. I hope that helps!
