What is the campus life like at Hamline University in St. Paul?

I'm looking into Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, and I'd love to hear more about the campus culture and student life. How does the university support student engagement and activities?

Hamline University, located in the heart of St. Paul, Minnesota, is a small university with an intimate campus life. The university is known for its community-oriented atmosphere. Hamline places a high emphasis on student engagement and involvement, both on campus and in the surrounding neighborhood.

To foster student engagement, the university hosts a variety of clubs and organizations. These organizations cover interests ranging from academic pursuits and leadership councils to cultural clubs, service-oriented groups, and special interest clubs. In total, Hamline has over 60 co-curricular groups that offer a multitude of opportunities for students to find their niche.

In addition to clubs and organizations, Hamline also offers a strong athletics program as part of NCAA's Division III. Whether you're an athlete or a fan, sports events provide great opportunities to bond with your peers and support your school's teams.

Another significant part of the campus life at Hamline is that they have a very active student-led programming board called "HUPB" (Hamline University Programming Board), which is responsible for many popular campus-wide events like Homecoming, Springfest, and various programming throughout the year.

Hamline University's location in St. Paul also contributes unique opportunities to its campus life. This means that while the campus itself is close-knit and offers a traditional college experience, students also benefit from the resources available in a larger city. From attending cultural festivals to volunteering in the community and internships at local businesses or organizations, students can immerse themselves in a vibrant urban environment, which can enrich their overall college experience.

However, as with all colleges, everyone's experience can differ. I suggest visiting the campus (if possible), attending a student-led tour, or reaching out to current students or alumni to gauge if the campus culture aligns with your goals and expectations. Just remember, your college experience often is what you make of it!
