Thoughts on Being a Salutatorian?

Hey everyone! I just found out I'll likely be my high school's salutatorian. How much of an impact does this have on my college applications, and should I include it in my application somehow? Or is it just an extra feather in my cap?

Congratulations on earning the title of salutatorian! Your accomplishment is definitely an indicator of your hard work and dedication throughout high school. As for its impact on your college applications, being salutatorian can be seen as a positive by admissions committees, as it shows your commitment to academic excellence and relative performance compared to your peers.

In terms of including it in your application, you can list it under the Honors/Awards section of the Common App or other application platforms. This way, the information will be visible and taken into account by admissions officers when assessing your academic achievements. While it is not the most significant factor in your application, it does add to your overall profile and can be considered an extra feather in your cap.

In addition to your salutatorian status, do not forget to focus on the other components of your application, such as your essays, extracurricular activities, and any other factors that demonstrate your unique qualities. Remember that colleges are looking for well-rounded or highly specialized students; your standing as salutatorian alone won't get you admitted, but it can help bolster your case when taken together with the rest of your application.
