UMich Supplemental Essays?

I'm applying to the University of Michigan, and I'm curious about their supplemental essays. What are the topics, and do you guys have any tips on what the admissions committee might be looking for in these essays? Any help is appreciated!

The University of Michigan requires two supplemental essays as part of their application. One is a "Community" essay, and the other is a "Why Michigan?" essay. Here are the prompts:

1. Community Essay (550 words)

"Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate College or School (including preferred admission and dual degree programs) to which you are applying at the University of Michigan. How would that curriculum support your interests?"

2. Why Michigan? (300 words)

"Everyone belongs to many different communities and/or groups defined by (among other things) shared geography, religion, ethnicity, income, cuisine, interest, race, ideology, or intellectual heritage. Choose one of the communities to which you belong, and describe that community and your place within it."

Tips for writing these essays:

Why Michigan? Essay: Be specific and genuine in your response. Research the University of Michigan and identify programs, classes, clubs, or faculty members that interest you. Your response should talk about why you want to attend Michigan specifically, not just your general goals for college.

Community Essay:

- Reflect on a particular community you have been a part of in your life, and think about both what you have contributed to that community and what it has contributed to your own development. Use personal anecdotes to make your response more engaging and clearly showcase the importance of this community to your life.
