What grades lead to a 4.0 GPA?

Hi all, just wanted to know - in order to maintain a 4.0 GPA, what letter grades do I need in my classes? Is it all A's, or can I have a mix of A's and high B's? Any help is much appreciated!

In order to maintain a 4.0 GPA, you would generally need to earn all A's in your classes. On a standard 4.0 GPA scale, an A (or A+, A-, depending on your school's grading system) is typically given a value of 4.0 points, while lower letter grades receive progressively lower GPA point values (e.g., a B+ might be 3.3, a B is 3.0, and so on).

If you earned a mix of A's and high B's (e.g., B+), your overall GPA would fall below a 4.0 as you would be averaging below 4.0 points per class. However, I would encourage you to not focus solely on achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA. While a high GPA is beneficial for college applications, admissions officers look for well-rounded applicants with a variety of experiences and strengths. Focus on maintaining good grades while also participating in meaningful extracurricular activities that showcase your passions and dedication to personal growth.
