Best college for graphic design in America?

I'm a junior interested in graphic design and planning to apply next year. I want to know which colleges in the US are considered the best for graphic design. Any recommendations?

Great that you're planning ahead for colleges for Graphic Design. Several US colleges have excellent programs for that.

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is often regarded as one of the top graphic design schools. With a curriculum that combines studio-based learning alongside more traditional coursework, they focus on developing both the technical skills and the ability to innovate.

Another school to consider is Pratt Institute. What makes them unique is their emphasis on a foundation year where all Art Design students study design principles before specializing, which can be valuable given how interdisciplinary design has become.

CalArts is another stellar choice if you're interested in blending graphic design with a more conceptual art practice. Their program is known for fostering an experimental approach to design.

Carnegie Mellon has a robust program as well, offering numerous concentrations within their graphic design track. Their program is known for rigorous technical training and a strong ground in design theory.

Finally, the Parsons School of Design at The New School has a dynamic program, well-regarded for its forward-thinking curriculum and focus on sustainable design.

All of these schools host impressive faculty and offer a variety of resources and opportunities to their design students. However, as you research these programs and others, it's essential to go beyond rankings and identify what exactly you're looking for in your educational experience. Look into the courses, faculty, resources, and culture of the school to make sure it aligns with your aspirations and working style.

Good luck with your college search and applications!
