NHRP Scholarship

Hey everyone! Has anyone successfully applied for the NHRP (National Hispanic Recognition Program) Scholarship? How competitive is it? And do you have any tips or advice for the application process? Thanks!

Hi there! I can definitely offer some insight into the National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP). The NHRP isn't actually a scholarship, but rather an academic recognition program for high-achieving Hispanic or Latino students who score in the top 2.5% of students who take the PSAT/NMSQT in their region. It's considered an honor and can certainly boost your college applications, as it demonstrates academic prowess among a specific demographic.

The competition for the NHRP can be quite tough, as only a few thousand students are recognized annually. To qualify, you must meet the minimum PSAT score cutoff for your region, which changes yearly. Additionally, you must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of your junior year.

There isn't an application process for the NHRP. If you meet the criteria, College Board will automatically notify you, and you simply need to submit a few documents to confirm your eligibility, such as your family heritage and academic achievements. Make sure to keep your contact information up-to-date on your College Board account, so you don't miss any notifications.

To prepare for the PSAT, it's a good idea to engage in regular practice tests and review sessions to help improve your score. Remember, your aim is to score in the top 2.5% in your region. Also, focus on maintaining a high GPA to meet the additional eligibility criteria for the NHRP.

Remember, being recognized by the NHRP can be beneficial when applying to colleges, as it showcases your academic achievements and can potentially make you more attractive for colleges during the admissions process. Best of luck!
