What does a recon marine do?

I'm thinking about enlisting in the military and heard about recon Marines. Can someone explain what their role is and what they typically do day-to-day?

Recon Marines, also known as Marine Force Reconnaissance, serve as the eyes and ears of their larger Marine units. They're part of the United States Marine Corps Special Operations Capable Forces (SOC) and, as such, they have a unique set of duties that differ from those of a common infantry Marine.

Their primary responsibility is to gather information about the enemy, including their location, capabilities, and movements.
