Looking for East Coast universities with rolling admissions

I'm interested in applying to some universities on the East Coast that have rolling admissions. Which schools offer this option, and how does it affect my application strategy? Is there a recommended time to apply?

Indeed, a number of universities on the East Coast do offer rolling admissions, which can be advantageous to students who complete their applications early. With this type of admissions system, the college reviews applications as they come in and usually makes decisions within a few weeks, rather than waiting until a specific deadline to review all applications at once. The downside to this is that as spaces in the class get filled, it may be harder to get accepted later in the application cycle.

Here are a few East Coast universities with rolling admissions:

1. Penn State University in Pennsylvania: This popular state school has rolling admissions but advises students to apply by November 30th in order to receive priority consideration for financial aid.

2. University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania: Also a state school, they start accepting applications in July.

3. University of Maine in Maine: Applications can be sent from August and it typically takes 2-3 weeks for a decision.

4. Pace University in New York: Applications open in August and they recommend applying as early as possible.

5. Rutgers University in New Jersey: They have rolling admissions but do have priority deadlines.

Remember, it is typically recommended to apply as early as possible if a school offers rolling admissions, as the acceptance rate can decrease over time. However, be sure to not rush your application just for the sake of submitting it early; quality should not be sacrificed. Take your time to craft strong, authentic essays and gather solid letters of recommendation because these are key components of your application. It can also help your chances of receiving scholarships and other forms of financial aid, as some schools award this on a first-come-first-served basis.
