Does Duke send likely letters?

I've heard about likely letters from a few colleges, but I'm specifically wondering if Duke sends them out. If they do, when can applicants expect to receive them? Any info would be super helpful!

Yes, Duke University does send out likely letters, but they are relatively rare and only sent to a small number of applicants. Likely letters are typically sent to exceptional applicants, informing them of their high probability of admission before the official acceptance letters are released. This is done to increase the likelihood that these strong candidates will choose to attend Duke, as Duke recognizes that they'll likely have a lot of strong options to choose from and thus want to ingratiate themselves early.

Though there is no set date for when Duke sends out likely letters, they are usually sent sometime between February and March, or a few weeks before the Regular Decision notification date, which is typically in late March or early April.

It's important to keep in mind that not receiving a likely letter doesn't negatively impact your chances of admission, as the vast majority of accepted students do not receive them. So don't get disheartened if you don't get one - just stay focused on your academics and extracurriculars, and wait for the official decision notification from Duke. Good luck!
