Does UNC offer rolling admissions?

I'm looking at the University of North Carolina and trying to figure out if they use rolling admissions. What are the advantages or disadvantages of applying to schools with this type of admissions process?

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC Chapel Hill) does not offer a rolling admissions process. Instead, they have two different types of admission: Early Action (EA) and Regular Decision (RD). In their EA process, you can apply by October 15th and receive your decision around January. For RD, the deadline is January 15th and the decisions are typically revealed in March.

As for the advantages and disadvantages, rolling admissions can be beneficial in several ways. One of the key advantages is the flexibility it offers in the application timeline. You can apply at any time within a large window, meaning you can submit your application when it best suits you. Schools with rolling admissions also usually respond quicker to applications, sometimes within a few weeks of submission, removing some of the stressful waiting time.

On the downside, spots at the school or specific programs can fill up, and the pool of financial aid can deplete, as decisions are made on an ongoing basis. Therefore, if you apply later in the cycle, you could face stiffer competition or receive a smaller aid package. It's also worth noting that some colleges may not weigh all other parts of your application as heavily, as they're typically looking to fill seats quickly, which can make the process seem less holistic.

All in all, whether applying to a school with rolling admissions is beneficial to you or not depends largely on your personal circumstances and preferred timeline.
