USC counselor recommendation requirement?

I'm applying to USC, and I've heard different things about their requirement for a counselor recommendation. Can anyone clear this up for me? Do they actually need a recommendation from my high school counselor, or is this optional?

USC does require a counselor recommendation as part of their application process. The recommendation should come from your high school counselor, who will be able to provide insight into your academic performance, personal growth, and overall character in the context of your school environment. This recommendation plays an important role in helping the admissions committee get a well-rounded understanding of your strengths and potential for success at USC.

While some universities may consider counselor recommendations optional, USC specifically requires one. Therefore, it is advisable to communicate with your counselor in advance to ensure they can submit a thoughtful and comprehensive recommendation before the application deadline. Keep in mind that it is helpful to maintain open communication with your counselor and provide them with any relevant information or personal achievements that you'd like included in the recommendation. This can assist them in crafting a strong letter of support for your application.

Good luck with your USC application!
