Should I submit a resume with my college application?

Hi all, I've been working on my resume and I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to submit it along with my college applications. Does it help in strengthening my application or would it just seem repetitive? What do you guys think? Thanks for any advice!

Whether or not you should submit a resume with your college application depends on the specific college's preferences and how well your activities list already represents your extracurriculars and achievements.

Before deciding to submit a resume, check the application instructions and guidelines for the colleges you are applying to. Some colleges might encourage or even require you to submit a resume, while others might not accept additional materials. Make sure you are adhering to the specific guidelines provided by each college.

If it's allowed and your activities and accomplishments cannot all be adequately represented in your application's designated activities section, then submitting a resume can be beneficial. A resume can provide additional information and context about your experiences, roles in organizations, work experience, or even personal projects that don't easily fit within the confines of the activities section (like extensive community service or personal achievements).

However, if your application already highlights your most significant extracurriculars and achievements, submitting a resume might indeed come across as repetitive. Focus on strategically using the given space on the application to showcase your most impactful activities and experiences - admissions officers only have so much time to read your application, so you don't want to make them use up some of their time re-reading something they already know.

In summary, only submit a resume if it both is allowed by the college and if adds valuable information that isn't already present in your application. Otherwise, be mindful that it could come across as repetitive or unnecessary. Good luck with your applications!
