What is the CCP application process at Columbus State Community College?

I'm interested in the College Credit Plus (CCP) program at Columbus State Community College. Could anyone explain the application process for CCP? Any tips on when to start or what to prepare would be great!

The College Credit Plus (CCP) program application process at Columbus State Community College is fairly straightforward, comprising several steps, but you need to make sure you meet all the deadlines.

1. Submit your Letter of Intent to your high school: Start by submitting a Letter of Intent to your high school. For public school students, the deadline to submit your College Credit Plus Intent form is April 1. If you miss the deadline, please contact your high school directly. Check with your school counselor for more information.

2. Apply for admission to Columbus State: Then, complete the Columbus State online application. Be sure to select “College Credit Plus” as your student type. After submitting the application, you will receive an acceptance email with your Columbus State Cougar ID within 5-7 business days.

3. Submission of Required Forms: Submit the Intent to Participate form signed by you and your parent/guardian. If you're a homeschooled student, be sure to submit letters from your parent/guardian and your school district superintendent. The college will also require your high school transcripts.

4. Determine Eligibility for College Credit Plus: First, you must have a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 or higher. You'll then need to satisfy course placement requirements. You can do this through approved assessment exams listed on Columbus State's website.

5. Orientation and Registration: After course placements are met, you need to complete orientation and register for classes.

As for when to start, CCP application deadlines for the Fall semester usually fall in spring, around April or May. So, starting the process early in your school year—say, January to February—would be a good idea. This will give you ample time to prepare, attend information sessions, take the necessary tests, and select the classes you want.

Just remember to stay organized and keep track of all the necessary documents and deadlines. Good luck!
