QuestBridge Match Acceptance Rate: Is it worth it?

Hey guys, I've been researching the QuestBridge National College Match, and I saw some different acceptance rates. Are the odds of getting matched good, and should I focus on this route or the regular decision process?

The QuestBridge National College Match can definitely be a great opportunity for high-achieving, low-income students, as it connects you with partner schools and provides a chance to receive a four-year, full tuition scholarship.

It's important to understand that the acceptance rates through QuestBridge can vary based on the school, and also on the competitiveness of the applicant pool each year. Overall, the match rate (the percentage of students who get successfully matched to a partner school from the total pool of Questbridge applicants) is around 7-10%. However, even if you're not matched, you still have the opportunity to be considered for Early Decision, Early Action, or Regular Decision at partner schools.

One key factor to consider is whether or not you think you'll be a strong candidate for the partner schools (which are typically highly selective). If you believe you have a solid chance based on your grades, test scores, extracurriculars, and personal story, then applying through QuestBridge could be a strategic move. Since QuestBridge offers an extensive application, partnering schools can get to know you better and in a different way than the Common Application.

However, if you feel that your candidacy might be stronger with more time to polish your application materials or if you're not certain you'd like to commit to attending a matched school, then you might find that applying through the Regular Decision process is a better fit for your needs.

If you want more help making the decision, I recommend talking through the pros and cons with your family and high school guidance counselor.
