Duke middle 50 SAT scores, anything to know?

Hi guys! I'm thinking of applying to Duke, but I'm curious about their middle 50 SAT scores. What kind of scores are in their middle 50% percentile range? And how important is it for me to fall within that range to have a good chance of getting accepted?

Hi there! Duke University's middle 50% SAT score range for accepted students is typically around 1480-1570. Falling within this range, especially if you're towards the upper end, is a big plus for your application, as it demonstrates that you're academically competitive with other currently enrolled students at Duke.

However, keep in mind that Duke has a holistic admissions process, which means they consider multiple factors beyond test scores when evaluating applicants. Your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, essays, and recommendation letters all play a significant role in the admissions process. Having a strong SAT score is essential, but it's only one aspect of your application.

If your SAT score is below the middle 50% range, don't lose hope, as applicants with lower scores are still sometimes admitted, especially if they are exceptional in other areas of their application. Conversely, having a score within or even above the range doesn't guarantee admission, as Duke is highly competitive and wants to be sure that each student they accept will fit into their community in a variety of ways, not juts academically.

In short, while it's advantageous to fall within Duke's middle 50% SAT score range, your entire profile will be considered during the evaluation process. So, be sure to focus on both your academic performance and your extracurricular involvements to present a balanced and compelling application. Good luck!
