Looking for art contests for high school students

Hey everyone, I've been really into art lately and I wanna get more involved. Does anyone know of any cool art contests specifically for high school students? Looking for both local and national opportunities, if possible!

Hi there! It's fantastic that you're passionate about art and looking to participate in contests. There are numerous opportunities for high school students to showcase their artistic talents, both locally and nationally. Here are a few reputable art contests to consider:

1. Scholastic Art & Writing Awards: One of the most prestigious art contests for high school students, this competition is open to students in 7th through 12th grades. With a wide range of categories, including Drawing & Illustration, Painting, Photography, and more, you can submit your artwork in whichever category best captures your skillset.

2. Doodle 4 Google: Google's annual competition encourages students to create a unique and creative doodle, with the winning doodle being displayed on the Google homepage. This is open to students in grades K-12, and winners can also receive scholarships and technology grants.

3. The Congressional Art Competition: Held annually since 1982, this contest is open to high school students from each congressional district. The winning pieces are displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Check with your local congressman's office for details on entering.

4. National YoungArts Foundation: This program is open to artists aged 15-18 or in grades 10-12. YoungArts offers awards in various artistic disciplines, including Visual Arts. In addition to cash prizes, winners can attend the organization's week-long signature program to hone their skills and connect with fellow artists.

5. Art in the Capitol Competition: Some states, like Florida, have an annual program where high school students can submit artworks to be displayed in the state capitol during the legislative session. Check if your state has a similar program by contacting your local state representative's office or your state's department of education.

6. Local and regional competitions: Look for art contests organized by your local arts council, museums, schools, and galleries. These smaller competitions may have less competition, and they can still provide valuable experience and recognition.

I recommend checking the eligibility requirements and deadlines for each contest carefully. Good luck, and I hope your art gets the recognition it deserves!
