OSU vs University of Arizona (UA) for engineering?

Hi, everyone! I've been accepted to both OSU and UA for engineering, but I'm not sure which school to choose. Any insight on their engineering programs, internship opportunities, and overall campus environment would be much appreciated!

Congratulations on being accepted to both OSU and UA for engineering! Both schools have solid engineering programs, but there are several factors to consider when making your decision.

In terms of the engineering programs, Ohio State University (OSU) is generally more highly-ranked and offers a wider variety of engineering disciplines. That being said, the University of Arizona (UA) also has a strong engineering program with a focus on collaborative and hands-on learning. Consider your specific area of interest within engineering and look at the research and course offerings each school provides in that area.

Internship opportunities will depend largely on the location and industry connections of each school. OSU, being in a larger city (Columbus, OH), may provide more local internship opportunities. Additionally, OSU has strong corporate partnerships with companies in the region, which could lead to more internship and co-op experiences. UA, on the other hand, has connections with industries in the southwestern region and is more focused on defense and aerospace research. If that interests you, UA could be a strong choice.

As for the overall campus environment, both schools have large student populations and lively campus environments with plenty of clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities to engage in. OSU is located in a bustling urban area with attractions and amenities of a big city, while UA is situated in a college town (Tucson, AZ), which has a close-knit feel with a strong focus on outdoor activities due to the sunny weather.

Finally, consider other factors like the cost of attendance and financial aid packages, and think about your personal preferences, such as location, weather, and campus culture. You might want to schedule tours or virtual visits for each campus to get a firsthand impression. Both universities have solid engineering programs, so ultimately, it's essential to choose the school that fits your needs and desires the best. Good luck!
