I'm applying to MIT, and was wondering if anyone knows what the prompts for the supplemental essays are for this year? I want to start working on them as soon as possible. Additionally, any advice on how to approach these essays would be greatly appreciated!
You’re in luck, because CollegeVine has a blog post breaking down how to tackle MIT’s current supplement essay prompts: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-mit-application-essays! Keep in mind, though, that the prompts can change year to year. So, while this post can give you an initial sense of what’s going to be asked of you, I would advise against starting to actually write your responses until August 1st before your senior year, as that’s when the prompts for the coming application cycle are officially released - you don’t want your hard work to go to waste if the prompts change!
Once you do have drafts of your responses, consider utilizing CollegeVine’s Free Peer Essay Review Tool, or submitting your essay for a paid review by an expert college admission advisor through CollegeVine’s marketplace. Sometimes, getting a more objective set of eyes on your essay is just the thing that takes it from good to great.
Good luck with your application to MIT!
