Marshall University vs Virginia Tech?

I'm really interested in both Marshall University and Virginia Tech, but I'm having a hard time choosing between the two. How do they compare in terms of academics, research, and campus culture? Any insight would be helpful!

Academics: Virginia Tech is generally considered as having stronger academics overall compared to Marshall University, with a larger variety of majors and highly ranked programs in engineering, architecture, and agriculture. Marshall, on the other hand, is known for its strong programs in nursing and health sciences. The class sizes at Virginia Tech can be larger, but the university is well-resourced and may provide more opportunities.

Research: Virginia Tech is a research-intensive university, with a focus on technology, engineering, and sciences. Consequently, there are plentiful research opportunities, funding, and prestigious research faculty. Marshall University also offers research opportunities, but they may be more limited in scope, especially in comparison to what you may find at a larger research institution like Virginia Tech.

Campus Culture: Culturally, there are differences between the two campuses. Virginia Tech, a larger public university with over 30,000 students, has a bustling atmosphere and is situated in the small college town of Blacksburg. The sense of community amongst students, faculty, and alumni, often referred to as the "Hokie Nation," is strong, and the school has a vibrant sports culture with enthusiastic fans. The area surrounding Virginia Tech is scenic and offers ample outdoor recreational activities.

Marshall University, located in Huntington, West Virginia, is smaller with a total enrollment of around 10,000 students. The campus size and setting often create a more intimate, close-knit community vibe. Huntington is a more urban setting compared to Blacksburg, providing a different kind of off-campus experience that includes restaurants, shops, and more. Greek life and athletics are also present at Marshall, although perhaps less prominent than at Virginia Tech.
