Do admission officers prefer essays that are connected to the applicant's major?

Hello, I'm currently a junior and I'm in the process of starting my college applications. The problem is, I'm not sure what to write about in my personal essay. I'm planning to major in Biology, but I'm not sure if I should write my essay on a topic related to that field, or if it's okay to choose something more personal and unrelated. I'm a little stressed about this because I want to make a good impression on the admissions officers. Any advice or tips on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey there! It's completely normal to feel a bit stressed out during this process, but remember that the purpose of the personal essay is to show the admissions officers who you are as an individual outside of your academic achievements. While it's not a bad idea to tie in your major, it's not a requirement either. If you have a personal story that you feel strongly about and think it would give a better picture of who you are, then go for it! Good luck!
