Accepted to Columbia?

Hey guys! I was just wondering if any of you got accepted into Columbia University recently? What was your GPA, standardized test scores (if you submitted them), and extracurriculars? I know it's a competitive school, so I'm just trying to get an idea of what I need to aim for. Thanks!

Hey! Congratulations to those who've been accepted into Columbia University! As you mentioned, it is indeed a competitive school, and I can provide a general overview of what accepted students' profiles may look like.

GPA: A vast majority of accepted students typically have a high GPA, likely within the 4.0 (unweighted) to 4.6 (weighted) range. Many would have taken numerous AP or IB courses to demonstrate a rigorous academic curriculum.

Standardized Test Scores: Columbia University has been test-optional since the COVID-19 pandemic, but if you choose to submit your SAT or ACT scores, the middle 50% of accepted students usually have an SAT score between 1480-1560 and an ACT score between 33-35.

Extracurriculars: The quality and depth of involvement in extracurricular activities matter a lot to top-tier schools like Columbia. Successful applicants often have what we like to call a 'spike' in one or more areas, indicating a strong passion and commitment. Impressive activities include national/international awards or achievements or state-level recognition and high leadership positions. For a well-rounded application, 8-10 total extracurriculars, with a focus on being deeply involved in a few, is recommended.

Additionally, having stellar essays and strong letters of recommendation can further strengthen your application. Remember that every applicant's profile is unique, and these are just guidelines to help you understand what competitive applicants might look like. Columbia University practices a holistic admissions process, so every part of your application will be considered in the context of your individual background and circumstances. Best of luck with your application process!
