Hey all, I'm planning on applying to UW-Madison next year, and I'm wondering if they require the ACT in their application process. I've taken the SAT but not the ACT. Any input would be really helpful!
Hello! UW-Madison doesn't strictly require the ACT for admissions, as they have a test-optional policy until at least Spring 2025. This means you can choose whether or not to submit your test scores. Since you've taken the SAT, you can submit your SAT score as part of your application instead of an ACT score.
The important thing is to assess your SAT score and determine if it positively represents your strengths as a candidate for UW-Madison. If you feel that your SAT score is strong and you can back it up with a solid academic performance and extracurricular involvement, then it's worthwhile to submit it with your application.
If, however, you think your SAT score doesn't accurately reflect your abilities or is lower than you'd like, you can choose not to submit it and focus on other aspects of your application, such as your GPA, extracurricular activities, and essays.
The school's test-optional policy is designed to give students flexibility, so take advantage of it and consider submitting your SAT score if you feel that it will benefit your application. Good luck with your application to UW-Madison!
