Waiting for SAT scores - How to handle the anxiety?

Guys, I took the SAT recently and now I'm super nervous waiting for my scores. How do you all handle the stress and anxiety while waiting for your 'score is coming' to turn into actual scores? I've been a bit of a wreck and could use some tips or at least some commiseration. Thanks!

Hey there! It's completely normal to feel nervous and stressed while waiting for your SAT scores, so know that you're not alone in this. Here are a few strategies you might find helpful as you wait for your scores to arrive:

1. Focus on other parts of your life: It's important to remember that while SAT scores are a part of your college application, they're not the only aspect. Use this waiting period to work on your extracurriculars, engage in your hobbies, or start writing your college essays.

2. Stay active: Exercise can be a great stress-reliever. Try going for a walk, swim, or bike ride to help clear your head and release anxiety-inducing energy. Plus, staying active is good for your overall well-being.

3. Practice mindfulness or meditation: Mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing or grounding exercises can help you stay present and reduce stress. Meditation apps like Headspace or Calm can introduce you to different practices that may help ease your anxiety during this time.

4. Talk to someone: Sometimes it's helpful to share your feelings with a trusted friend, family member, or teacher. They may be able to provide comfort or advice based on their own experiences, and it can also be nice to remind yourself that you're not alone in how you're feeling.

5. Create a plan for different outcomes: Instead of worrying about the unknown, try visualizing different score scenarios and what steps you'll take in response to them. This way, you'll be prepared for whichever outcome occurs and you'll know that you have a plan in place.

6. Limit checking: Although it's tempting to check for score updates every few minutes, try to set specific times during the day when you’ll allow yourself to check. Limiting this activity can help decrease the constant sense of worry.

Remember, your SAT scores do not define you or your potential for success in college. Be kind to yourself during this waiting period, and try your best to focus on the aspects of your life that bring you joy and fulfillment. Wishing you the best of luck!
