Honors Carolina Acceptance Rate

Hi guys, I've been looking into the Honors Carolina program at UNC and I can't seem to find any info about the acceptance rate. Does anyone know what the acceptance rate is or how competitive this program is? Thanks in advance!

Hello! According to UNC, the Honors Carolina program has recently has an acceptance rate around 10%, so it is generally considered to be competitive. Honors Carolina is an invitation-based program, so you don't have to apply separately to be considered. However, students who are not invited may apply later on.

Students with strong academic backgrounds, demonstrated leadership skills, and unique extracurricular involvement typically have better chances of being invited to the Honors Carolina program. When you apply to UNC, your application is automatically reviewed for eligibility to this program. If you have a high GPA, strong test scores (if submitted), and impressive extracurricular activities, you may be more likely to receive an invitation.

For some context, the overall acceptance rate for UNC is around 20%, so you can expect Honors Carolina's acceptance rate to generally be lower than that.

It's important to keep in mind that while joining an honors program can provide valuable opportunities, your overall college experience at UNC will not be defined solely by whether or not you participate in Honors Carolina. UNC as a whole offers many resources and opportunities for all students, including research, internships, and study abroad options. Good luck!
