When should I start asking for recommendation letters?

Hi everyone! I'm a junior and I know that we need to get recommendation letters from our teachers for college applications. When is the best time to start asking for these? I don't want to wait too long and risk not getting them in time. Thanks for your help!

Hey there! It's great that you're already thinking about recommendation letters. From my experience with my own child who went through the college application process, I'd suggest starting to ask for these letters towards the end of your junior year or the beginning of your senior year. This gives your teachers ample time to write thoughtful and personalized letters on your behalf. It's important to remember that teachers often have multiple students requesting letters, so the earlier you ask, the better. When you approach your teachers, try to give them as much information as possible, like your intended major, colleges you're applying to, and any specific achievements or experiences you'd like them to mention in the letter. This will help them tailor their recommendation to best support your application. Finally, make sure to ask teachers who know you well and can speak to your strengths both inside and outside of the classroom. Good luck with your college applications, and I hope this helps!
