Does University of Michigan require the SAT?

Can someone confirm if the University of Michigan requires the SAT for their admissions process? I'm trying to decide if I need to take it or if I can focus on other aspects of my application.

The University of Michigan currently has a test-optional policy in place, which was implemented in response to the Covid-19 pandemic but has been extended in the years since. So, you are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores as part of your application.

However, since Michigan is a selective institution, demonstrating your strengths in as many ways as possible can be a wise choice. So, it may still be worth your while to invest time and energy into shooting for a strong SAT score. You can read more about how to navigate test-optional policies on CollegeVine's blog: https://blog.collegevine.com/does-test-optional-mean-test-optional/.

If you decide not to take the SAT or feel that your scores aren't a strong representation of your abilities, make sure that you highlight your strengths in other areas of your application to demonstrate your readiness for college-level work and involvement in the university community. Without SAT scores, your GPA, extracurriculars, and essays become even more important, so you want to be sure that all of those elements are as compelling as possible if you apply test-optional.

Best of luck with your application to Michigan!
