How much weight do colleges put on SAT scores?

I'm a little bit stressed about my SAT score, as I've always struggled with standardized tests. I have a strong GPA, but I'm worried that my test scores might hold me back. How much do colleges really care about SAT scores? Thanks for any advice!

First of all, it's completely understandable to feel stressed about your SAT scores, as many students feel the same way. However, it's important to remember that, while SAT scores do play a role in college admissions, they are not the sole determining factor. Colleges consider a variety of aspects when reviewing applications, including your GPA, extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, essays, and personal achievements. In fact, some colleges have even adopted test-optional policies, which allow applicants to decide whether they want to submit their test scores or not. As you mentioned having a strong GPA, it's evident that you've been working hard in your academic pursuits, and that will definitely be taken into account. My advice would be to focus on showcasing your strengths and accomplishments in other areas of your application, such as your essays and extracurricular involvement. Also, if you have the opportunity to retake the SAT, you may consider doing so to improve your score. Ultimately, remember that your SAT score is just one piece of the puzzle in the college admissions process. Best of luck!
