ED2 at Vanderbilt?

Hi everyone! I'm really interested in Vanderbilt and was thinking about applying ED2. Has anyone here gone through the ED2 process at Vanderbilt? Would love to hear about your experiences and any advice y'all might have.

Hi there! Although I haven't personally gone through the ED2 process at Vanderbilt, I can give you some insights and advice about applying ED2 in general. Many students have found success through this option, especially if they're sure Vanderbilt is their top choice.

Applying ED2, like ED1, is a binding agreement, meaning that if you're accepted, you must attend Vanderbilt and withdraw all your other applications. It's a great option if you didn't apply ED1 anywhere, or if perhaps you were rejected or deferred from your ED1 school. The benefits of applying ED2 at Vanderbilt are that it demonstrates your strong interest in the school, and historically, the acceptance rates have been higher for applicants who apply through ED (both ED1 and ED2) compared to Regular Decision.

Here are some tips for your application process:

1. Research Vanderbilt thoroughly: Understand specific programs, clubs, or opportunities that are unique to the school. This will help you showcase your fit with the university in your essay or interviews.

2. Reach out to current students or alumni: They can provide helpful insights into student life, academics, and the campus culture. You can find many online platforms, such as Vanderbilt's social media pages or online forums, where students are happy to share their experiences.

3. Prepare strong supplemental essays: Vanderbilt does require supplemental essays in addition to the Common App or Coalition App essay. Take the time to demonstrate your authentic interest in the university, and make sure your essays are well-polished and unique.

4. Connect with your teachers/counselor: Make sure they know that you are very passionate about Vanderbilt and that it is your first choice. This will motivate them to write strong letters of recommendation on your behalf.

5. Stay in touch with the admissions office: You don't want to overwhelm them with updates, but periodically reaching out to express your continued interest and updating them on any new accomplishments or awards can be helpful.

Keep in mind that applying ED2 is a major decision, so ensure you and your family have considered the financial implications. If admitted, you will have a limited time to review your financial aid package and make your decision. Good luck with your application, and I hope you find these tips helpful!
