US SAT average?

Hey everyone, I'm a junior and starting to think about the whole college application process. Does anyone know the current US SAT average for high school students? I could use this info to set a goal for my own test scores. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! The current US SAT average for high school students is around 1050. This average is based on the scores of all test takers in a given year, and it's important to note that this number may vary slightly depending on the specific cohort.

While the national average is a useful reference point, it's important to consider your own unique academic profile and the requirements of the colleges you're interested in as well. Keep in mind that more selective colleges and universities will often have higher SAT ranges for admitted students.

It's a good idea to research the 25th and 75th percentile scores for the schools you're targeting because this will give you a clearer understanding of the score range these institutions generally expect. If you manage to score above the 75th percentile for a particular school, it'll place you in a more competitive position as an applicant. Conversely, scoring below the 25th percentile may make admissions more challenging, so plan to improve in those areas.

Best of luck with your college application process and SAT preparation!
