How can I improve my chances of getting off a waitlist?

Hey! I'm a junior in high school, and I'm starting to think about the college application process. If I end up on a waitlist for a college I really want to attend, what can I do to improve my chances of getting off the waitlist and being admitted? Thanks in advance!

Hi there! It's great that you're thinking ahead about the college application process. If you do end up on a waitlist, there are some steps you can take to improve your chances of getting off of it and being admitted. First, make sure to accept your position on the waitlist - they won't consider you if you don't. You can also write a letter of continued interest (LOCI) to the admissions office, expressing your enthusiasm for the school and updating them on any new accomplishments, awards, or relevant experiences you've had since applying. Stay in touch with the admissions office, but remember to be respectful and not too persistent. Lastly, consider visiting the campus if you haven't already, as this can demonstrate your commitment to attending the school. Keep in mind, though, that getting off a waitlist is not guaranteed, so make sure you have a backup plan and continue exploring other college options. Best of luck with your applications!
